Overview
Meloxicam + diacerein is a fixed-dose combination therapy developed by Laboratorios Liomont for the treatment of osteoarthritis, particularly of the knee and hip, as well as rheumatoid arthritis and other degenerative joint diseases. It combines meloxicam, a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides rapid analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects, with diacerein, an anthraquinone derivative that acts as an interleukin-1 (IL-1) inhibitor. Diacerein is considered a disease-modifying osteoarthritis drug (DMOAD) due to its ability to inhibit cartilage degradation and promote repair. The combination aims to provide both symptomatic relief and potential structural benefits in joint diseases.
