Mem-Lok collagenous membrane is a resorbable bovine collagen membrane designed for guided bone regeneration (GBR) and guided tissue regeneration (GTR) in oral and dental surgery. Manufactured by Collagen Matrix, Inc., it is composed of highly purified Type I collagen derived from bovine tissue. The membrane acts as a cell-occlusive physical barrier, preventing the ingrowth of soft tissue into bone defects while allowing nutrient transfer through its macromolecular pore structure. It features a predictable resorption rate of approximately 26 to 38 weeks, providing sufficient time for bone maturation. It is primarily indicated for post-extraction socket preservation, localized ridge augmentation, and the treatment of periodontal defects.
