Overview
**Membrane-inhibiting formula** (also referred to as **Xiao Mo Fang**) is an investigational Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal composition developed and studied at the Women's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine. It is primarily used as a fertility-preserving adjunct therapy for patients with early-stage (Stage I) endometrial carcinoma or endometrial hyperplasia. Typically administered in combination with oral progestins such as megestrol acetate, the formula is intended to accelerate the achievement of complete endometrial remission and improve subsequent pregnancy outcomes. Its mechanism of action is believed to involve the inhibition of pathological endometrial cell proliferation and the induction of apoptosis, potentially by modulating estrogen and progesterone receptor signaling. The formula is currently under evaluation in prospective clinical trials to determine its efficacy and safety across various molecular subtypes, including POLE-mutated and mismatch repair-deficient (MMRd) endometrial cancers.
