MenACWY-CRM

MenACWY-CRM (brand name Menveo) is a quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine developed by Novartis Vaccines (now part of GSK). It is designed to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, W-135, and Y. The vaccine consists of capsular polysaccharides from each of these four serogroups, which are individually conjugated to a CRM197 carrier protein, a non-toxic mutant of diphtheria toxin. This conjugation converts the polysaccharides from T-cell independent to T-cell dependent antigens, enabling a robust immune response and the induction of immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. Menveo was first approved by the FDA in 2010 for use in individuals aged 11 to 55 years and was later expanded to include infants as young as 2 months of age. While the marketed formulation is non-adjuvanted, clinical studies have evaluated both adjuvanted and non-adjuvanted versions.
