Overview
MENASCORP is an equine-derived polyvalent antiserum developed by VinsBioproducts for the treatment of scorpion envenomation. It consists of purified F(ab')2 fragments of immunoglobulins obtained from the serum of healthy horses immunized against the venoms of *Leiurus quinquestriatus* (Deathstalker) and *Androctonus amoreuxi* (African Fat-tailed Scorpion). The mechanism of action involves passive immunization, where the polyclonal antibodies bind to and neutralize the circulating toxins in the scorpion venom, preventing them from reaching their physiological targets and facilitating their clearance. It is indicated for patients showing signs of systemic scorpion sting toxemia.
