Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MenC-CRM EMV refers to a specific manufacturing variant of the Menjugate vaccine, a monovalent meningococcal serogroup C conjugate vaccine developed by Novartis (now part of GSK). This specific version utilizes a drug substance manufactured at the Emeryville, USA facility. The vaccine consists of purified Neisseria meningitidis serogroup C oligosaccharides covalently conjugated to the CRM197 carrier protein, which is a non-toxic mutant of the diphtheria toxin. This conjugation converts the polysaccharide from a T-cell independent to a T-cell dependent antigen, significantly enhancing its immunogenicity and ability to induce immunological memory, particularly in infants and toddlers. It is formulated as a lyophilized powder for reconstitution and is administered via intramuscular injection to provide active immunization against invasive disease caused by serogroup C meningococci.
