Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Menhycia is a quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine developed by CanSino Biologics for the prevention of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis. The vaccine is composed of purified capsular polysaccharides from four serogroups of *Neisseria meningitidis* (A, C, Y, and W135), each covalently conjugated to the CRM197 carrier protein, a non-toxic mutant of the diphtheria toxin. This conjugation converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, significantly improving immunogenicity and inducing immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. Menhycia is indicated for active immunization in children aged 3 months to 6 years (83 months) and was the first quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine to be approved in China.
