Meningococcal (ACYW) diphtheria toxoid conjugate vaccine is a quadrivalent vaccine designed to protect against invasive disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. It is a conjugate vaccine in which meningococcal polysaccharides or oligosaccharides from these serogroups are covalently linked to diphtheria toxoid or a specific diphtheria protein (e.g., CRM197), enhancing immunogenicity especially in young children. The vaccine induces protective antibody responses by stimulating T-cell dependent immunity. It does not protect against serogroup B Neisseria meningitidis. The primary indication is the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease, including meningitis and meningococcemia, in individuals at risk, particularly those aged 2 months through 55 years[1][3][5][6].
