Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The meningococcal (group A, C, Y, W135) polysaccharide conjugate vaccine is a quadrivalent vaccine designed to provide active immunization against invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W135. Developed by Beijing Green Bamboo Biological Pharmacy, this specific conjugate vaccine candidate utilizes capsular polysaccharides from the four serogroups chemically linked to a carrier protein (such as tetanus toxoid). This conjugation process enhances the immune response by engaging T-cells, which is particularly critical for inducing effective and lasting immunity in infants and young children, a population where plain polysaccharide vaccines are often poorly immunogenic. The vaccine is currently undergoing Phase 3 clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety, immunogenicity, and immune persistence in healthy infants and children aged 6 months to 5 years.
