Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A quadrivalent *conjugate vaccine* used for active immunization to prevent invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. The vaccine contains capsular oligosaccharides from each serogroup, individually conjugated to a non-toxic diphtheria toxin variant (CRM197) or tetanus toxoid carrier protein, enhancing immunogenicity by promoting a T-cell–dependent immune response. It is indicated for individuals from 2 months up to 55 years of age and is not effective against serogroup B. Major clinical uses are the prevention of meningococcal meningitis, meningococcemia, and related forms of invasive disease[2][3][5][4].
