Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MCV-ACYW135 is a quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine developed by Beijing Minhai Biotechnology for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W135. The vaccine is composed of capsular polysaccharides from these four serogroups, each chemically conjugated to a carrier protein. This conjugation converts the polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, thereby enhancing immunogenicity and inducing immunological memory, which is particularly critical for protection in infants and young children. A Phase 3 clinical trial (NCT02003495) conducted in China evaluated the safety and immunogenicity of the vaccine in healthy children aged 2 months to 6 years, demonstrating its potential to provide broad protection against the most common serogroups associated with meningococcal meningitis.
