Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Meningococcal A, C, W, Y tetanus toxoid conjugate vaccine** is a quadrivalent conjugate vaccine that provides active immunization against invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* of serogroups A, C, W, and Y. It consists of purified capsular polysaccharides from these serogroups covalently linked to a tetanus toxoid protein carrier, which enhances the immune response by inducing T-cell dependent immunity. The primary indication is prevention of invasive meningococcal disease. The vaccine induces production of IgG, IgM, and IgA against the capsular polysaccharides, providing bactericidal protection. It is licensed for both children and adults, and clinical studies show robust immunogenicity and an acceptable safety profile. Tetanus toxoid conjugation offers potential for longer-lasting immunity, especially compared with unconjugated polysaccharide vaccines[1][2][3][4][5].
