Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Meningococcal A, C, Y and W‑135 conjugate vaccines are injectable biologic vaccines indicated for active immunization to prevent invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W‑135. These vaccines work by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against the polysaccharide capsules of these four serogroups, using a protein carrier (such as diphtheria toxoid or CRM197) to enhance immunogenicity. They are primarily used in children, adolescents, and adults at risk for meningococcal disease. The main developers include Novartis (now part of GSK), GSK itself, and Tianjin CanSino Biotechnology. The primary indication is prevention of invasive meningococcal infections[2][4][6][7].
