Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Meningococcal A and C Polysaccharide Conjugate Vaccine, marketed under the brand name **MENINGACON**, is a freeze-dried biologic developed by **Beijing Zhifei Lvzhu Biopharmaceutical**, a subsidiary of Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products. This adjuvant-free vaccine is designed to provide active immunity against *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A and C, the primary causative agents of meningococcal meningitis. Each 0.5 mL dose contains 10 μg of group A and 10 μg of group C capsular polysaccharides, each individually conjugated to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein. This conjugation process converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, thereby enhancing immunogenicity and inducing immunological memory, particularly in infants. The vaccine is indicated for individuals aged 3 months and older and is administered via intramuscular injection.
