Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The meningococcal ABCWY (MenABCWY) vaccine is a pentavalent combination vaccine designed to protect against invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, B, C, W, and Y. It combines the antigenic components of two existing vaccines—Bexsero (for group B) and Menveo (for groups A, C, W-135, and Y)—to provide broad coverage in a single immunization regimen. The mechanism of action involves stimulating the immune system to produce bactericidal antibodies targeting the capsular polysaccharides of serogroups A, C, W, Y as well as factor H binding protein (fHbp) from group B strains. These antibodies mediate complement-dependent killing of *N. meningitidis* bacteria[6][8]. The primary indication is prevention of invasive meningococcal disease in adolescents and young adults.
