Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The meningococcal ABCWY vaccine (specifically the candidate developed by GSK, often identified as GSK3536852A) is a pentavalent combination vaccine designed to provide broad protection against invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, B, C, W, and Y. It is formulated by combining the components of two existing GSK vaccines: Bexsero (a multicomponent serogroup B vaccine) and Menveo (a quadrivalent A, C, W-135, and Y conjugate vaccine). The vaccine aims to simplify immunization schedules by covering the five most prevalent serogroups in a single product, particularly for adolescents and infants. It utilizes a combination of recombinant proteins, outer membrane vesicles (OMV), and polysaccharide-protein conjugates to elicit a robust bactericidal antibody response against the targeted serogroups.
