meningococcal ABCYW conjugate vaccine

The MenABCYW conjugate vaccine is an investigational pentavalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine being developed by Sanofi. It is designed to provide active immunization against invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) caused by five Neisseria meningitidis serogroups: A, B, C, Y, and W. This vaccine is distinct from Sanofi's approved quadrivalent MenACYW vaccine (MenQuadfi) as it incorporates additional coverage against serogroup B. As a conjugate vaccine, it utilizes meningococcal polysaccharide antigens from the five serogroups conjugated to a carrier protein (likely tetanus toxoid) to elicit T cell-dependent immune responses, higher antibody titers, and long-lasting immunologic memory. The vaccine is administered via intramuscular injection and is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials (such as study VAN00010) to assess its safety and immunogenicity in healthy adolescents and adults.
