Meningococcal C oligosaccharide conjugated vaccines are active immunizing agents designed to prevent invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup C. These vaccines contain purified capsular polysaccharides from the bacteria, which are chemically linked (conjugated) to a carrier protein such as CRM197 or tetanus toxoid. This conjugation enhances the immune response, especially in young children who respond poorly to plain polysaccharides. The primary mechanism of action is induction of protective antibodies against the capsular polysaccharides of *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup C. Some formulations also protect against additional serogroups (A, W-135, Y). The main indication is prevention of invasive meningococcal disease including meningitis and septicemia[4][5][7][8]. Major developers include GSK and Pfizer.
