Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The **meningococcal C-tetanus toxoid conjugate vaccine** is a monovalent vaccine designed to protect against invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup C. The vaccine contains purified capsular polysaccharide from serogroup C meningococci conjugated to tetanus toxoid (TT) protein. Conjugation to tetanus toxoid facilitates a T-cell dependent immune response, promoting higher and longer-lasting antibody titers, increased immunogenicity in infants and young children, and immunological memory. Primary indication is the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease (including meningococcal meningitis and septicemia) caused by serogroup C. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly; its mechanism of action is induction of anti-serogroup C polysaccharide-specific antibodies via targeted immunological engagement with the conjugated tetanus toxoid protein carrier[2][3].
