Overview

Meningococcal conjugate quadrivalent vaccine is designed to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. The vaccine works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against these four serogroups of bacteria. It contains polysaccharides from these bacterial serogroups that are chemically conjugated to a carrier protein (either CRM197, a non-toxic mutant of diphtheria toxin, or tetanus toxoid) to enhance immunogenicity, especially in young children. The vaccine does not protect against meningococcal serogroup B infections.
