Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV4) is a quadrivalent vaccine developed by AIM Honesty (AIM Vaccine Corporation) for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease, including epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis and sepsis. The vaccine targets *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W135. It utilizes polysaccharide-protein chemical coupling technology to covalently bind the four bacterial polysaccharides to the CRM197 carrier protein. This conjugation converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, enabling the induction of a robust immune response and immunological memory, particularly in infants and children under two years of age. As of early 2024, the vaccine is in Phase II clinical trials in China, where it aims to address a significant market need as the first potential domestic MCV4 product.
