Meningococcal conjugate vaccines are a class of vaccines designed to provide active immunization against invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis*. These vaccines are composed of capsular polysaccharides from specific serogroups (such as A, C, Y, and W-135) that are chemically linked (conjugated) to a carrier protein, such as diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, or CRM197. This conjugation process transforms the polysaccharide into a T-cell dependent antigen, which induces a more robust and long-lasting immune response, including the induction of immunological memory, and is effective in infants and young children. Various formulations exist, including bivalent (A and C) and quadrivalent (A, C, Y, and W-135) versions. Clinical trials for these vaccines have been conducted by several organizations, including the Chengdu Institute of Biological Products and the Lanzhou Institute of Biological Products, focusing on safety and immunogenicity in various age groups.
