Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The GSK MenACWY conjugate vaccine (specifically identified by the code GSK3536820A in its liquid formulation) is a tetravalent vaccine developed by GSK to protect against invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, W-135, and Y. The vaccine consists of capsular oligosaccharides from each of the four serogroups, each individually conjugated to the carrier protein CRM197, a non-toxic mutant of diphtheria toxin. This conjugation process converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, which enhances the immune response and induces long-term immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. While the established brand Menveo is often supplied as a lyophilized powder requiring reconstitution, the GSK3536820A formulation is a fully liquid presentation designed to simplify administration. It has been evaluated in Phase III clinical trials for primary immunization in children and has demonstrated non-inferiority to licensed meningococcal vaccines.
