Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nimenrix + Twinrix refers to the co-administration of two distinct vaccine products developed by GSK: Nimenrix, a quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine, and Twinrix, a combined hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccine. Nimenrix provides active immunization against Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, W-135, and Y by utilizing capsular polysaccharides conjugated to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein. Twinrix contains inactivated hepatitis A virus (HM175 strain) and recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) produced in yeast cells, adsorbed onto aluminum salts to enhance the immune response. This combination regimen is frequently employed in clinical practice for travelers or adolescents who require simultaneous protection against invasive meningococcal disease and hepatitis A and B infections. Clinical studies have demonstrated that the co-administration of these vaccines at separate injection sites is safe and does not interfere with the immunogenicity of either component.
