Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The AC meningococcal groups A and C and Haemophilus b conjugate vaccine is a trivalent combination vaccine developed by Beijing Zhifei Lüzhu Biopharmaceutical. It is designed to provide simultaneous protection against invasive diseases caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A and C and *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib), including meningitis, pneumonia, and sepsis. The vaccine utilizes capsular polysaccharides from each pathogen, which are individually conjugated to a carrier protein (typically tetanus toxoid) to convert the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, thereby inducing a robust immune response and immunological memory in infants and young children. While a non-adjuvanted version (marketed as Xifibe) is approved in China, clinical trials (such as CTR20191651) have evaluated adjuvanted formulations to potentially enhance immunogenicity in the primary series for infants.
