Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The meningococcal group A and C conjugate vaccine is a bivalent vaccine developed and manufactured by Yuxi Walvax Biotechnology Co., Ltd. for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A and C. The vaccine consists of purified capsular polysaccharides from serogroups A and C, each covalently linked to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein. This conjugation enhances the immune response by recruiting T-cell help, which is essential for inducing high-affinity antibodies and immunological memory, particularly in infants whose immune systems respond poorly to plain polysaccharide vaccines. Administered via intramuscular injection, the vaccine is approved in China for use in children aged 3 months to 5 years, with dosing schedules varying by age. Clinical and post-marketing data have demonstrated a favorable safety profile and robust immunogenicity in the pediatric population.
