Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yuxi Walvax group A and C meningococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine is a bivalent vaccine developed by Walvax Biotechnology (through its subsidiary Yuxi Walvax) for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A and C. The vaccine utilizes a conjugation technology where purified capsular polysaccharides from the two serogroups are covalently linked to the CRM197 carrier protein (a non-toxic mutant of diphtheria toxin). This conjugation converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, allowing for an effective immune response and the induction of immunological memory in infants and young children. It is typically administered via intramuscular injection and has been evaluated in post-marketing Phase 4 studies to confirm its safety and immunogenicity profile compared to other marketed AC conjugate vaccines in the Chinese pediatric population.
