Overview
This bivalent vaccine, developed by Yunnan Weicun Biological Products (Wei Cun), is composed of purified capsular polysaccharides from *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A and C. It is designed for the active immunization of healthy individuals, particularly children, to prevent invasive meningococcal disease and meningitis caused by these specific serogroups. The vaccine works by stimulating the immune system to produce serogroup-specific bactericidal antibodies. It has been evaluated in a Phase III randomized, double-blind, controlled non-inferiority trial to assess its safety and immunogenicity in children aged 2 to 6 years, comparing it against established meningococcal vaccines.
