Overview

Meningococcal group ACYW135 conjugate vaccine is a quadrivalent conjugate vaccine designed to provide active immunization against invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. The vaccine contains oligosaccharides from the bacterial capsules of these four serogroups that are chemically linked (conjugated) to a carrier protein such as diphtheria toxoid or CRM197. This conjugation enhances the immune response by promoting T-cell dependent immunity and immunological memory. The primary indication is prevention of meningitis and septicemia caused by these serogroups in children (as young as 2 months), adolescents, and adults up to 55 years old. Several brands are available globally; for example, Menveo uses CRM197 as the carrier protein[6][7][8]. The vaccines do not protect against *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup B.
