A quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4) developed by Walvax Biotechnology to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. The vaccine utilizes capsular polysaccharides from each of the four serogroups, individually conjugated to a carrier protein (typically CRM197) to enhance immunogenicity and induce immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. This conjugate technology converts the T-independent polysaccharide antigens into T-dependent antigens, allowing for a more robust and long-lasting immune response compared to plain polysaccharide vaccines. Walvax's MCV4 was approved by the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in 2022 for use in children and adults, following clinical trials that demonstrated its safety and immunogenicity across a broad age range from 2 months to 55 years.
