GSK3536852A is a recombinant protein vaccine candidate developed by GSK for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup B. It consists of two recombinant factor H binding protein (fHbp) variants, one from each of the two major subfamilies (A and B). This bivalent fHbp approach is intended to provide broad protection against diverse MenB strains by inducing serum bactericidal antibodies that block the function of fHbp, a surface protein that allows the bacteria to evade the host's immune system by binding human factor H. While GSK already markets a multicomponent MenB vaccine (Bexsero), GSK3536852A was specifically developed to be the serogroup B component of GSK's pentavalent MenABCWY vaccine candidate, as its formulation is more compatible with the capsular polysaccharide conjugate components of Menveo than the multicomponent Bexsero formulation.
