Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MenC-TT vaccine, marketed under the brand name **NeisVac-C**, is a monovalent meningococcal group C conjugate vaccine used for active immunization against invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup C. The vaccine consists of the capsular polysaccharide of serogroup C meningococci covalently linked to a **tetanus toxoid (TT)** carrier protein. This conjugation converts the polysaccharide from a T-cell independent to a T-cell dependent antigen, thereby enhancing immunogenicity and inducing immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. Originally developed by **Baxter Innovations GmbH** and subsequently acquired by **Pfizer**, the vaccine is administered via intramuscular injection. It has been evaluated in clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity when administered alone or concomitantly with other pediatric vaccines, such as pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (e.g., PCV7).
