Overview
Meningococcal group C-CRM197 conjugate vaccine is a biologic vaccine indicated for active immunization to prevent invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup C. The vaccine consists of purified capsular polysaccharide from *N. meningitidis* serogroup C covalently linked to CRM197, a genetically modified nontoxic variant of diphtheria toxin used as a carrier protein. This conjugation enhances the immune response compared to plain polysaccharide vaccines by promoting T-cell dependent immunity and inducing higher-affinity, longer-lasting antibodies in infants, children, adolescents, and adults[1][8]. The primary developer was Novartis (now part of GSK's vaccines division), and it is marketed under the brand name Menjugate[8]. It is administered intramuscularly and recommended for individuals from 2 months of age onward for prevention of invasive meningococcal disease due to serogroup C.
