Meningococcal Y refers to vaccine formulations or components specifically targeting *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup Y, a major cause of invasive meningococcal disease including meningitis and septicemia. While monovalent serogroup Y vaccines are not commonly used in general practice, the serogroup Y capsular polysaccharide is a critical constituent of quadrivalent (A, C, W, Y) and pentavalent (A, C, W, Y, B or X) meningococcal vaccines. These vaccines typically utilize a conjugate technology where the serogroup-specific polysaccharide is chemically linked to a carrier protein, such as CRM197, diphtheria toxoid, or tetanus toxoid.
