Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A quadrivalent conjugate vaccine designed to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. Developed by Yuxi Watson Biotechnology (a subsidiary of Walvax Biotechnology), it consists of capsular polysaccharides from each of the four serogroups individually conjugated to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein. This conjugation converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, inducing a more robust immune response and immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. It was approved in China in 2022 for use in children from 3 months to 3 years of age.
