Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ACYW135 refers to quadrivalent meningococcal vaccines designed to protect against *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W135. These vaccines are critical for preventing invasive meningococcal disease, which can lead to severe meningitis and sepsis. There are two primary types: quadrivalent meningococcal polysaccharide vaccines (MPSV4) and quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccines (MCV4). The conjugate version is generally preferred for infants and young children as it provides a T-cell dependent immune response, leading to better immunogenicity and immunological memory. Yuxi Watson Biotechnology (a subsidiary of Walvax Biotechnology) is a key developer of these vaccines in China, with both polysaccharide and conjugate formulations in various stages of clinical development and use. The conjugate vaccine (MCV4) is specifically being evaluated in healthy infants to provide early protection against these four serogroups.
