Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sinovac's meningococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine (Groups A and C) is a bivalent, lyophilized, adjuvant-free biologic vaccine designed to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A and C. The vaccine consists of purified capsular polysaccharides from both serogroups, each covalently conjugated to a carrier protein (typically tetanus toxoid) to convert the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens. This conjugation enhances immunogenicity, particularly in young children, and induces long-term immunological memory. Administered via intramuscular injection, the vaccine stimulates the production of bactericidal antibodies that provide protection against meningococcal meningitis and related invasive infections. It has been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials in China to assess safety and tolerability in adults aged 18–59 years.
