Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Meningococcal polysaccharide diphtheria toxoid conjugate vaccine is a vaccine used to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups. The vaccine works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against meningococcal bacteria. Different formulations protect against different serogroups, with traditional quadrivalent vaccines covering serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135, while the newer pentavalent vaccine (Penmenvy) covers serogroups A, B, C, W, and Y. The vaccines use diphtheria toxoid as a carrier protein to enhance immune response, particularly in younger individuals.
