Overview

Meningococcal polysaccharide groups A, C, W‑135 and Y conjugate vaccines are quadrivalent vaccines designed to protect against invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, W‑135 and Y. These vaccines contain purified capsular polysaccharides from each of the four serogroups covalently linked (conjugated) to a carrier protein such as diphtheria toxoid (Menactra), CRM197 (Menveo), or tetanus toxoid (MenQuadfi). Conjugation enhances immunogenicity by inducing T-cell dependent immune responses and immunological memory. The primary indication is prevention of invasive meningococcal disease in children, adolescents, and adults at increased risk due to medical conditions or exposure. The vaccines are approved for routine use in many countries for specific age groups[3][4][8].
