Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine ACWY** is a vaccine indicated for active immunization against invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, W, and Y. The vaccine works by presenting polysaccharide antigens from these meningococcal groups, either in free form or conjugated to diphtheria toxoid or other protein carriers, to elicit a protective antibody response. The primary indication is the prevention of meningococcal meningitis and other serious invasive infections caused by these serogroups, especially among children, adolescents, travelers to endemic areas, and individuals with increased risk due to medical or occupational reasons. It does not protect against serogroup B.
