Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Meningococcal quadrivalent CRM-197 conjugate vaccine is a polysaccharide-protein conjugate vaccine designed to prevent invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, W-135, and Y. The vaccine contains capsular polysaccharides from these four serogroups individually conjugated to the non-toxic mutant diphtheria toxin protein carrier CRM197. This conjugation enhances immunogenicity compared to unconjugated polysaccharide vaccines by inducing T-cell dependent immune responses and promoting immunological memory. The primary indication is active immunization against invasive meningococcal disease in individuals aged 2 months through 55 years. It does not protect against serogroup B infections. Clinical trials have demonstrated high immunogenicity and an acceptable safety profile across infants, children, adolescents, and adults[1][3][4][5].
