Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The meningococcal serogroup B vaccine is a recombinant protein vaccine being developed by Techinvention Lifecare for the prevention of meningococcal disease. It specifically targets *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup B, a major cause of bacterial meningitis and sepsis. Unlike other meningococcal serogroups (A, C, W, Y) that can be effectively targeted with polysaccharide-based conjugate vaccines, serogroup B's capsular polysaccharide is structurally similar to human neural cell adhesion molecules, making it poorly immunogenic and posing a risk of autoimmunity. To overcome this, the vaccine utilizes recombinant protein antigens to stimulate a protective immune response. The candidate is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
