Overview

The meningococcus C conjugate vaccine (MenCC-Bio or MenCPS-TT) is a biologic vaccine candidate developed by Bio-Manguinhos/Fiocruz in Brazil. It consists of the Neisseria meningitidis serogroup C polysaccharide (strain 2135) conjugated to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein using a modified reductive amination method. Formulated with an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant, the vaccine is designed to prevent meningococcal C disease, including meningitis and septicemia. Clinical evaluation in Phase I and Phase II trials has demonstrated safety and immunogenicity profiles comparable to established commercial vaccines like Neisvac-C.
