Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Menitorix + Infanrix IPV refers to the co-administration of two GlaxoSmithKline vaccines: Menitorix (a combined Haemophilus influenzae type b and Meningococcal group C conjugate vaccine) and Infanrix IPV (a combined diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, and inactivated poliovirus vaccine). Menitorix provides active immunization against Hib and Neisseria meningitidis serogroup C by using capsular polysaccharides conjugated to a tetanus toxoid carrier. Infanrix IPV provides protection against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and poliomyelitis using a combination of toxoids, purified bacterial proteins, and inactivated viral particles. This specific regimen was evaluated in Phase IIIb clinical trials to assess the immunogenicity and safety of booster doses in preterm and full-term infants, often administered alongside other pediatric vaccines such as the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (Prevenar).
