Overview

**Menotrophin** is a urine-derived human menopausal gonadotropin preparation used to stimulate follicular development and ovulation in infertility treatment, including controlled ovarian stimulation for assisted reproductive technology. It contains follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone bioactivity obtained from the urine of postmenopausal women. By activating follicle-stimulating hormone receptors and luteinizing hormone/choriogonadotropin receptors in the ovary, it promotes follicular growth, steroidogenesis, oocyte maturation, and ovulation. Commercial preparations include highly purified injectable products such as Menopur.
