MenPF-1 is a novel outer membrane vesicle (OMV) vaccine developed to protect against invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup B (MenB). The vaccine is produced from genetically modified *N. meningitidis* strain 44/76, which constitutively expresses the ferric enterobactin receptor FetA in addition to the PorA protein. Both PorA and FetA are variable outer membrane proteins that serve as key antigens, inducing type-specific bactericidal antibodies. By including both proteins, MenPF-1 aims to broaden protection against diverse strains of MenB. In phase I clinical trials in healthy adults, three doses of either 25 μg or 50 μg were administered intramuscularly and shown to be safe and well tolerated, with strong immunogenicity demonstrated by high rates of protective serum bactericidal antibody titers against wild-type and mutant strains expressing these antigens[1][2][4][6][7]. The vaccine is not a live product; it cannot cause infection.
