Overview

MenSCs-Cap is an experimental cell therapy candidate developed by Consorcio Regenero, a Chilean biomedical consortium. The therapy utilizes mesenchymal stem cells derived from menstrual blood (MenSCs), which are microencapsulated within a semi-permeable biomaterial, typically alginate-based. This encapsulation technology is designed to protect the transplanted cells from the recipient's immune system, thereby potentially eliminating the need for chronic immunosuppression, while allowing the cells to secrete therapeutic proteins and immunomodulatory paracrine factors. The primary indication under investigation is Type 1 Diabetes, where the therapy aims to regulate the autoimmune response and promote a pro-regenerative environment for pancreatic function.
