Overview

Mensospas is an oral combination tablet developed and marketed by Anthus Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of spasm-related pain and dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps). The formulation contains three active ingredients: mefenamic acid (500mg), pamabrom (25mg), and dicyclomine hydrochloride (10mg). Mefenamic acid is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. Dicyclomine hydrochloride is an antispasmodic agent that relieves smooth muscle spasms in the gastrointestinal and urogenital tracts by antagonizing muscarinic receptors. Pamabrom is a mild diuretic that helps alleviate water retention and bloating associated with menstruation. This multi-modal approach is designed to address the primary symptoms of dysmenorrhea, including pain, cramping, and bloating. The drug is approved and marketed in India as a prescription product.
