Overview

Menstrual blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MenSCs) is an investigational cell therapy developed by S-Evans Biosciences for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus. These mesenchymal stem cells are isolated from menstrual blood, providing a non-invasive and ethically uncomplicated source of multipotent cells characterized by high proliferation rates and the ability to differentiate into various cell lineages. The therapy is hypothesized to function through immunomodulation and the promotion of endogenous pancreatic progenitor cell differentiation, thereby improving glycemic control and potentially regenerating or preserving beta-cell function. It has been evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials involving intravenous or intra-arterial (pancreatic artery) administration.
