Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Menveo + Bexsero is a combination vaccine regimen providing broad protection against invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, B, C, W-135, and Y. Menveo is a quadrivalent conjugate vaccine (MenACWY-CRM) that utilizes capsular polysaccharides from serogroups A, C, W-135, and Y conjugated to a CRM197 carrier protein to enhance immunogenicity through T-cell involvement. Bexsero is a multicomponent vaccine (MenB-4C) targeting serogroup B, containing three recombinant proteins—Neisserial adhesin A (NadA), Neisserial heparin-binding antigen (NHBA), and factor H-binding protein (fHbp)—along with outer membrane vesicles (OMV) containing Porin A (PorA). This combination is being evaluated in clinical trials, such as the MENPI study led by Thomas Benfield, to assess safety and immunogenicity in high-risk populations, including adults living with HIV who are at increased risk for invasive meningococcal and pneumococcal infections.
